Andy Murray... Burberry's new muse?

In the recent days after winning the Wimbledon tennis champion Andy Murray and girlfriend Kim Sears have both been spotted wearing matching Burberry ensembles. Hence the gossip gurus have already started whispering that in fact creative director Christopher Bailey has indeed chosen the couple to front his new champaign. Bailey already has a history of choosing sort after couples to appear in campaigns such as Sienna miller and fiancé Tom Sturridge.... So could Murray and Sears be the next? ....

Ramadan nights

Ramadan Kareem,

Over the weekend the ALLTHINGSCITY team have been out inspecting the greatest tents being offered this year in celebration of the holy month of Ramadan ...

Thursday night took us to the Asateer tent, located within the Atlantis compound, situated next to Nassimi. Asateer has always been a favourite of ours over the years, but unfortunately it seems this year the tents sparkle has started to dwindle from the unorganised reception to the huge bouncer at the entrance, totally uncalled for ITS NOT A NIGHTCLUB!!!!
The food quality has also fallen, dry, tired and low In quality it left little to be desired. Add to the fact that they've attempted to increase the capacity without increasing the size of the venue, leaving you know space between you and the neighbouring table.
So all in all we'd have to give Asateer a 5 out of 10... Please decrease the number of table, we sincerely didn't appreciate trying to nibble on our bites with the neighbouring table sitting on our laps....

Friday night took us to Mina A'salam on the other hand once again proves it eloquence and fabulousityy, hosting yet another splendid Ramadan extravaganza. Everything was sublime from the delicately cooked meats and mezzahs to the shisha, Turkish coffee and Kunafa (dessert). The ambience of the venue was beautiful and the gentle music added to the splendour and majestic experience of the holy month of Ramadan. We loved the company and the location. Scoring a 9 out of 10.

So not so long ago via twitter (god it seems so primitive compared to Facebook, Instagram, pin it, post it or the latest fad....) friends of ours came up with the hash tag "WORDS WE FEAR" so we decided to post some of the trending suggestions:

WORDS WE FEAR:

Words we fear ... Insufficient funds

Words we fear ... Credit card declined

Words we fear ... Your balance is

Words we fear ... Your amber reward points need to be used

Words we fear ... This is an intervention!

Kuwait delights

Hey lovely followers,
Sorry we've been MIA the past week, but now we can tell you all that in fact we were in Kuwait city! Only an hour and 15 minutes away via Fly dubai (ticket prices vary between 500 to 700 AED, depending on the time, day and luggage), the city takes you back to a time when Dubai was still young and developing, the cities still dusty with Sharjah architecture, a hand full of sky scrappers, and recently highway 5 was renamed after Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler of the UAE.

We must warn you that Kuwait isn't what you would expect its actually some what dilapidated and could defiantly do with an complete overhaul especially as their sewage system exploded a couple of years ago and the stench of rotting fesis still lingers in the air!!

However three things that Kuwait does has to offer that Dubai lacks are:

1) Their Americaness, and by this we mean from cars (everyone or at least one person in each family needs to own a GMC or Tahoe... its a given, a law passed down from generation to generation) to the amount of US brands, eateries, accents and even cop cars and toe trucks.... all American.

2) Food, boy they know how to cook them selves some good grub, from Makhi sushi to sliders burgers or all american dinners such as the Breakfast club... yum yum yum!

3) Malls, Al Shaya sure knows how to present the ultimate in shopping experience. A must see is the Avenues mall and 360 mall along with many of the smaller boutiques such as Pink Moon dotted around the city. Here you can find great buys from Quay sunglasses to other cute fashion pieces as Free City sweat pants and T's (www.pinkmoonboutique.com) a definite must....
Another amazing coincidence is that many clothes which are not on sale here in the UAE or are deemed to be best sellers are likely to be on sale in Kuwait due to their conservative nature. We were able to pick up some goodies from REISS and Topshop Kuwait which aren't on sale here but were there:

We've listed them below, et us know your thoughts:

7.50 KD not available in the UAE yet

Also 7.50 KD

Simple Black Cocktail dress half price, still full price in Dubai

300 AED in kuwait whilst in Dubai the shoes is still around 620AED

Daisy Top 200 AED in kuwait 295 in Dubai

White top 15 KD which equals just under 195 AED

Blue top same as above 195AED

Makeup discovered

Like many ladies out there Allthingscity adores makeup and fragrances. Yesterday Allthingscity was privileged to receive a goodie bag filled with Komask 4D professional makeup!

Their concept is simple... Less makeup, more coverage with the ability to let the skin breath... sounds good to us.

“KOMASK” is a line of German-American make-up, developed in USA,  with high and top quality mineral ingredients for more elasticity,  covering and less make-up layers, that  give more value to the make-up, especially in hot and humid weather as in the middle east.

The generosity of Komask was evident, we received a bag full of products which were tested and put through their paces during the course of the day, and we were especially delighted with a few pieces and we've decided to list them below:

Please visit their website for purchases www.komask.com

Corrector kit 2: great for blending to cover those nasty black circles or blemishes, we used it also for contouring the nose, cheeks and jaw line

HD Finish foundation: Beautiful, non greasy and easy to apply, its oil free and packed with vitamins to protect your skin from environmental damage. Leaves your skin with a silky and smooth finish!

TV Stix: This product is a miracle and comes in a variety of shades to suit every skin tone, a total lifter and concealer. Double wahmy it protects your skin from UV and hides any blemishes, spots or dark circle without leaving a heavy residue behind.

Liquid lips: Summer colours and nourishment. The lip gloss was surprisingly light and didn't leave our lips greasy and chapped. A definite must have!!
